It’s not culture appropriation. My hair would dread without brushing it, but while we’re on the subject…
Painting nails? Chinese culture.
Do you eat ramen? Asian culture.
Wear eyeliner? Egyptian culture.
Have a wedding band? Pagan culture.
Celebrate Christmas on December 25? Pagan…
It’s now very common to hear people say, “I’m rather offended by that”, as if that gives them certain rights. It’s no more than a whine. It has no meaning, it has no purpose, it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. “I’m offended by that.” Well, so fucking what?
wow so I redrew a comic I posted on instagram cause it’s really relevant atm
•The White House is modeled after greek temples. You don’t cry for it to be torn down.
•The English language is a mix of many languages including Latin, German, Greek, and French. You don’t call for it to never be spoken again.
•Pants were a Persian invention to aid in horse riding. You don’t call for all non-Persians/Iranians to ditch their pants.
Cultural appropriation is stupid. I'm sorry, but I'm Indian, and it couldn't give two shits whether or not people want to wear saris or bindis or go to temples. They can pray to Ganesh, practice Buddhism (which is now more Tibetan than Indian), do bharatanatyam dance, watch Bollywood movies or do mehendi. I will never care because it's their life. Likewise, I would hope that no one would deprive me of the same opportunity. People just need to mind their own damn business. Sorry for the rant.
